CASE STUDY: Moveable Checkweigher on Casters

The Problem: Transportable In Line QC Check Needed
A shipper of small Holiday items wanted to install a weigh check system to ensure all item weights were correct for the carrrier they were being shipped with. Items that are under 1 LB needed to always go using USPS. They needed a transportable checkweigher solution they could move from one dock door to the next.
The Solution: Mobile Checkweigh System on Casters
CASI developed a easily transportable checkweigher system on casters that can be moved from one dock door to the next.
System Overview

The system starts with items being manually placed on the zero pressure accumulation conveyor and being conveyed to the omnidirectional barcode scanner where the order number is read from the carton. A table lookup is performed to see which shipper to use and the carton is processed.

If an exception occurs such as a no read or the carton is too heavy, etc, the operator manually processes the carton.
Benefits from the new efficiencies
The in Line Checkweigh system enables the shipper to lower shipping costs by ensuring that only items under one pound ship via USPS. Other benefits include a log of all shipments and actual weight of every item that are very useful for common carrier compliance
