CASE STUDY: Motorized Drive Roller
(MDR) Conveyor System
The Material Handling Problem: Low Cost Conveyor System Needed with Quick Installation
CASI was approached by a large third party logistics company that needed to have a cross docking conveyor system with a very low cost that could be installed quickly and without the need for expensive and slow electricians or 480 volt permits.
The Solution: CASI TransMaster 9000 MDR Conveyor with SortMaster 100 Sortation System
CASI installed a TransMaster 9000 motorized drive roller conveyor system with cross dock sortation.
Turnkey System Overview
Cartons enter the MDR conveyor system through a series of dock doors where they are merged onto one line.
The cartons accumulate around the MDR motorized drive roller accumulation curves in zero pressure accumulation.
Before entering the sortation system, the cartons are spaced using a SolidGap 9120 metering belt.
Cartons are identified using a SICK five side scan tunnel array and the data sent to the sortation control system.
The sortation control system controls the sortation process by linking with the customers legacy host and routing cartons down the appropriate lane. Sortation reports and statistics are maintained for management review.
Cartons are tracked by the SolidSuite Sortation Control System down to the appropriate lane and diverted.
Benefits from the new efficiencies
The benefits from the new system include reduced labor and speed of processing. CASI MDR system install faster than convetional 480 volt system and cost less due to the fact they do not require expensive millwrights, electricians, or custom electrical control panels.
