CASE STUDY: Inline Product Inspection

inline product inspection

The Problem: Automatic Over/Under Fill Control and Metal Detection

A national manufacturer of tortillas wanted to automate the QC process of checkweighing and metal detection.

The Solution: 100% Inline Product Inspection and Quality Control

CASI proposed an in–line check weigh system with integrate metal detection and product reject system. These features ensure 100% product inspection before packing and shipping.

Inspection System Overview

induction to product inspection

The bags of tortillas travel from the bag sealer to the automation inspection system via a slider bed conveyor. An In-feed zone correctly spaces the items before weighing.

inline weighing detection

After the product is correctly spaced, it is weighed by the over / under checkweigher and a pass / fail is determined. Items that pass the weight check are transported through the Safeline metal detector and packed.

inline metal detector

Under or over weight items are diverted and manually inspected.  Items that fail the Safeline metal detector stop the conveyor.

Benefits from the new efficiencies

The benefits from the new system include reduced errors, labor and 100% automatic inspection of the product.
