CASE STUDY: High Speed In Motion Scale on Mezzanine

The Problem: Each Picks need Auto Weight Check Before Sortation
A leading material handling systems integrator needed to install a checkweigher on a mezzanine to check if all items in split cases were picked correctly before sortation.
The Solution: CASI 981 High Speed In Motion Scale
CASI provided a 981 high speed in motion scale for the application. A customer supplied fixed mount barcode scanner reads the barcode that identified the order. This data is compared to the expected weight. Exceptions are sorted to the jackpot lane on the primary sorter.
System Overview

As cartons enter the in motion scale zone, they are gapped by a break meter belt system. The barcode is read from the side of the carton as the carton enters the in motion scale.

Benefits from the new efficiencies
The benefits from the new system include automatically checking for missing items before cartons are shipped reducing labor and manual QC involvement.
