CASE STUDY: Batch Check Weighing

The Problem: Process Needs Quality Control by Weight for Batch Runs of Items
CASI was contracted by a large third party fulfillment house to come up with a solution to automatically check the quality of outbound items for picking.
The Solution: Automatic Check Weighing System
CASI proposed using a check weighing system for both lines they have feeding the main shipping line.
In Line Check Weighing System Overview

Since the cartons are run in batch, the operator sets up the upper and lower controls limits before the batch run. The items that are shipped pass through a case sealer and into a metering belt with value guide to center it. Once the cartons are spaced, they travel onto the CASI 951 in motion scale where each is inspected by weight.

If a carton is out of tolerance, the Checkweigh manager software diverts it from the conveyor using a SortMaster 130 reject pusher.
Benefits from the new efficiencies
The benefits from the new system include reduced errors, labor and automatic inspection of each product before it is shipped.
