CASE STUDY: Automatic Checkweigh for Quality Control

The Problem – Find Missing Bottles or low fill Bottles using an In Line Checkweigher
Coats Aloe contracted with Lakey Packaging to develop an automatic QC system for their outbound shipping. CASI was selected as the vendor for the system and installed an automated checkweigher.
The Solution – High Accuracy Automatic Checkweigher
CASI installed a very high accuracy 921 checkweigher with SortMaster 130 LD case reject. TransMaster 24 volt, zero pressure accumulation (ZPA) conveyor was added to convey the cases.
The first step in the process is to use the Checkweigh Manager setup screen to select the product to being run. Recipes can be saved at any time. The CASI 1100 AC controller has huge 120 GB hard drives so the amount of storage for product recipes is immense.

Once the recipe is selected, the product is manually loaded onto the system.

The 921 is super accurate intermittent checkweigher that can consistently checkweigh items to 5 grams. The product is conveyed to the weigh zone where the scale is pneumatically raised up under the product to obtain the weight.

Product that is outside the upper or lower control limits are reject from the conveyor by the SortMaster 130 pusher divert. Checkweigh Manager includes the functionality to control diverts without custom programming like many other Checkweigh systems.
