CASE STUDY: Automatic Packaging System

The Problem: Lower Labor Costs Needed in Packaging Process
A major electronics manufacturing company of needed to automate the configuration and processing of units for shipment.
The Solution: Automatic Packaging System
CASI provided an automated conveyor and end of line packaging automation system using our 24 Volt TransMaster low profile conveyor and modules from the SolidSuite WCS to route and label items for processing. An interface was established to the customer ERP system using SolidComm host interface software that enabled real time information about the manufacturing and shipping operation.

Items are processed at a number of stations along the 24 volt TransMaster conveyor.

The units are sorted in a round robin fashion to a pair of Shanklin wrapping machines.

Before the unit travels into the wrapping system, the unit serial number is scanned by a pair of Datalogic DS6300 barcode scanners.

The units travel through the wrapping system into the labeling zone where a Budgetmaster roller conveyor bottom labeling zone is set up with

Benefits from the new efficiencies
Benefits from the system include reduced labor from the automated process and the confidence to know that the automatic system is ensuring the right label is on the receiver. The unit in sorted after the labeling process to the correct palletizing zone.
