Common Carrier Sortation

Achieve a Rapid ROI with a Common Carrier Sortation System
Distribution Center operations can achieve a cost justifiable productivity increase by implementing a Common Carrier Sortation System. In Parcel Sortation Systems, cartons are sorted by their respective carrier or class. UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS cartons can be sorted by carrier and class (Red, Blue, Ground, etc.). Sortation by Carrier provides a rapid ROI and is an important addition to any Outbound Sortation system.
How the System Works
After
cartons are manifested, a barcode scanner reads either the pick
label or carrier barcode and the SolidRoute™
system performs a lookup to determine the divert lane. The carton
is diverted at that lane and added to the sortation report.
SolidRoute™
is used for six lanes or more, while SolidRoute™ Express
is used for smaller shipping sortation systems.
With any sorter, the parts per minute rate depends upon the item lengths, weights, conveyor speed, and required gap.
